Crofton weed response

Crofton weed was not known to occur north of Central QLD until a state government employee found a specimen on the edge of World Heritage Area in the higher parts of the Atherton tablelands. NQLMS were engaged to assist with the first response efforts which included:

  • Visiting landholders adjoining the infestation area
  • Survey to determine the outbreak spatially and provide the data collected to a district data base.
  • Chemically treat easily assessable specimens
  • Undertake germination trials in our nursery to determine strike rate after chemical treatment.

NQLMS was part of the first response for this weed outbreak and continues to be involved with ongoing efforts.
